Here is a link to the Parliament Act 1911.
This infamous Act in which Prime Minister Asquith threatened, a Conservative dominated House of Lords, that if they didn't pass his Finance Bill (a tax that the House of Lords thought was excessive for the public to bear) he would put 500 new peers into the House of Lords who would vote for the closure of the House of Lords. As you would expect the Lords gave in. What they should have done was to have Asquith arrested for treason! That's the position we are in today - not to let them get-away with it!

This link is a Government website and see how it dodges what the real agenda was!

For more on the history of this infamous Act see this link.

The upshot of this Act is that it makes it possible for the Government to do away with law altogether if it so chooses!
