Subject: BREAKING: Russia Mobilizes 160,000 Troops After US Officials Confirm Israel Took Out Russian Missiles At Latakia Arsenal in Syria, The Most Ambitious Since 1991 Military Exercises In The Far East

This all checked out, including the link to the Russia-language TASS story about the 160,000 man Russian drill. This is serious and helps debunk the notion that Obama and Putin are pals. I never once bought that. Now we have a warlike escalation that will require a decision. My instinct is that Russia now knows Obama is weakened diplomatically by the NSA scandal, which puts him at loggerheads with Europe, Latin America and the rest of the world, and is therefore gambling that Obama will not risk a confrontation at this time, which could inflict further damage on what is left of his credibility. Who executed the attack on the Russian Yakhont missiles and why is anyone's guess. On the one hand, it seems somewhat unlikely that Israel would risk such an attack under these circumstances, unless they are hoping to embarrass Obama. On the other hand, to hardcore cynics, this might suggest that Israel and Obama have colluded to make Obama look like a hero in the wake of his ignominious scandals and rejection by the international community, including multiple invitations of refuge for Ed Snowden and temporary shelter for him at a Moscow airport despite frantic pleas from Obama to extradite the renegade. This has got to sting the Usurper in Chief despite his apparent sang-froid.

If that is true, then the only one not in on the plot is Putin, and that makes him a wild card.

Call it unexpected consequences, call it God's hand, but it is an intriguing twist for the US and a major threat.

Here is the report in Haaretz, a reputable news site:
