Dear British Friends ... A Handbook for EU-critics, whether on the political Right, Left or Centre ... Sent to you for your information

The National Platform EU Research and Information Centre,

24 Crawford Avenue,

Dublin 9,

3 February 2016

Dear British Friends,

May I send you as an Attachment herewith an “EU-critical Handbook” that has been written for use by critics of the European Union(EU) regardless of whether they are on the political Right, Left or Centre in their views on public affairs.

My colleagues and I hope that this Handbook, titled Tackling the EU Empire, may be of use to you in the upcoming “Brexit” referendum.

Every effort has been made to ensure that the facts set out in this 56-page booklet are accurate.

It describes the history, structure and current problems of the EU, how the EU has destroyed the democracy of its Member States, hollowed out their traditional national institutions in the interest of a powerful and unscrupulous supranational elite, and opened the way to a German-dominated Europe.

Most of our laws now come from the EU, made by people we do not elect or control and who are not responsible to us.

As stated on the booklet’s front page, people are free to use or adapt this Handbook in whole or in part for their own purposes, including changing its title if desired, without any need of reference to or acknowledgement of its source.

Please forward it to those among your friends and acquaintances who are concerned about the future of your country, if you think they may find it useful.

On another point, we hope you will agree that it is highly desirable that citizens of the UK will base their vote in the “Brexit” referendum on the EU Treaties and the EU institutions they establish, which have robbed people of their national democracy and independence, rather than on the relatively minor and marginal details of Prime Minister Cameron’s so-called “reform deal” in Brussels, which leaves the EU Treaties and EU control of all our lives essentially unchanged.

In this connection may we draw your attention to what we understand is the only English-language version of the EU Treaties that has an Index – something which is essential if you really want to find out how the EU affects you, as outlined in the EU-critical Handbook attached.

This is the edition of the EU Treaties by former Danish MEP Jens-Peter Bonde, which is available free on the internet at under the title The Lisbon Treaty -The Readable Version.

If you care to download this you will find this Consolidated Text of the EU Treaties + its Index and Glossary to be an invaluable help in informing you on how the EU really controls your lives and in countering the misrepresentations of the Government and its EU and domestic allies in the upcoming referendum.

Yours faithfully

Anthony Coughlan
