TREASON FELONY ACT 1848

Dear Editor,

Guildford Tory councillor Christian Holliday had no need to attempt to have the Treason Felony Act 1848 amended to make it a treasonable offence to support the UK in being a member of the EU, it has always been so.

As there is no provision in the Treaty of Rome for a constitutional monarchy, agreeing to accept the terms and conditions of that treaty removed the supremacy of the people’s Crown and national sovereignty and with it the office of the people’s elected Monarch. There can be no sovereign monarch in a nation that is no longer sovereign.

Under the English Constitution the Monarch once crowned holds the office for life, to contemplate on or attempt to remove the office of the Monarch or diminish it in any way is, according to the Treason Felony Act 1848 to: ‘imagine the death of the Monarch’.

In truth and reality, words not recognised by despotic politicians, those who supported and voted to remain in the EU voted for the end of the monarchy and our 1200 year old and internationally  admired Constitution.   Will those millions who gave their lives to uphold and protect these democratic principles turn in their graves next month?

Bob Lomas.
