I hope that you had a good (and well-earned) Christmas break.

1. I am pleased to attach the latest 'Resistance' newsletter with some
insights on how the UK might obtain Brexit.

2. On the plus side, the EU establishment seems resigned to us leaving. Many
though not all of its supporters in office now seem motivated to achieve an
orderly Brexit and a constructive future working relationship.

On the minus side, there is still much ground to cover to get there by 2019.
This will lead to some challenging negotiations, and probably some difficult
compromises - at least in the short term. We look at the issues, some of
which are not immediately obvious. The biggest danger is that we don't fully
understand them.

The British government also remains keen to play a full role in the EU (as
part of a charm offensive?). It is even participating in common defence
