Denigrating the Public
Today, 02:12
[email protected]

Dear Sir Gerald Howarth MP,
When a politician uses the words “Any intelligent person” in a communication, it infers that the person they are writing to is stupid.
This kind of language is extremely insulting to the electorate, many of whom are intelligent and informed, and it is they who bother to write to their MPs, about matters which will affect them.
The current topic is how Brexit is progressing and being handled, especially when there appears to be a lack of eye on the ball out in the country on utility prices rising, priced out of reach places to live, crumbling public services, and now Sajid Javid wants to raid a pension pot in the same way as the EU did – “Rien ne change”  (nothing changes).
Intelligence is not the sacred preserve of those in Westminster or Whitehall, it is widely spread throughout the country, so please would you mind not denigrating people, who merely wish to check that their paid servants in government are carrying out their wishes to the letter.
Secrecy although to a certain extent necessary, breeds distrust, anxiety, and ultimately anger, and this former elected dictatorship need to keep that in mind, for they are riding a tiger.
"Dictators ride to and fro on tigers from which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry." - Winston Churchill (While England Slept, 1938)
Please pass this message around Parliament, and more importantly the Mandarins and Civil Servants in Whitehall whom the people trust least of all.
yours respectfully
Mrs Jane Birkby
English Constitution Group
