You can’t apply if you’re white. ITV advert

ITV are advertising for an intern to join Peston on Sunday, but there’s a catch – you can’t apply if you’re white.

The role is put forward by Creative Access, which is dedicated to increasing the number of people from black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds in the media.
It’s described as “an incredible opportunity for a politically-minded Production Trainee”.
They make clear: “All roles advertised through Creative Access are only open to UK nationals from a black, Asian or non-white ethnic minority.”
This is by no means the first case of a big news company opening up opportunities to those only with a certain skin colour, just look at the New Statesman.
Alongside the Wellcome Trust it offered two paid three-month placements to student or graduates from an ethnic minority background.
Interestingly on their website they included a link to the Race Relations Act, which talks about discrimination in the workplace.

This is absurd. Establishment media’s idea of equality of opportunity would allow someone with black skin who attended Eton to apply for an internship, but would freeze out a working class white kid from a council estate. Shameful.
