BREAKING NEWS--Tony Blair could face trial in Scotland
« on: September 09, 2012, 10:29:28 AM »

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair could face trial in Scotland for his war crimes in Iraq after the proposal was backed by Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs).

Margo MacDonald, an independent MSP, called for the alteration of the International Criminal Court (Scotland) Act 2001, asking the law to consider an aggressive war with the intention of changing a regime as illegal.

The suggestion to try Blair gained support from backbenchers of the Scottish National Party (SNP), Annabelle Ewing, Gordon MacDonald, John Finnie, Chic Brodie and Jim Eadie.

Jim Sillars, husband to a former SNP deputy leader called on bold Scottish MPs to "introduce retrospective legislation to indict the former prime minister on war crimes."

"Blair knew aggressive war was a crime. He believed he was safe, there being no legal system that could touch him. There is one now - ours," he added.

Last week, Archbishop Desmond Tutu called for Blair and former US president George W. Bush to be tried at the International Court of Justice at The Hague for war crimes in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Tutu, the Nobel Peace prize winner said that the former leaders of the UK and the US would have already faced trial, if they were former African leaders. Tutu also stated that the death toll in Iraq alone was sufficient for Blair and Bush to be prosecuted.

I really do welcome this News from the Scottish, Assembly (notionally the Scottish Parliament).  ;D

However I'll not break out the champagne until I see him in handcuffs!  :-*

All power to the brave souls who have dared to oppose the Corporate, Criminal Cabal; that 'Useful Idiot' and scoundrel, Tony Blair so stupidly served!  >:(

The fact that he is Scottish by birth, rather casts a 'shadow' over proceedings;  :-\ but all will come clearer once the 'bravehearts' resist the threats that will surely come their way! :o

They will surely need bucket-loads of morale support and proper, effective protection...  ::)

Tony Blair gets $1 million for brokering deal
10 September, 2012

LONDON: Former British prime minister Tony Blair is to be paid nearly $1 million ??620,000 ? for just three hours of work last week, when he helped broker the world's biggest corporate takeover.

Blair was drafted into a late-night meeting at Claridge's hotel in Mayfair, central London, between Ivan Glasenberg, the ?4 billion tycoon who runs the commodities giant Glencore, and Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani.

The men had reached an impasse over Glencore's plans to merge with Xstrata, the ?30 billion mining company. Qatar, Xstrata's biggest investor, vowed to vote against it unless Glasenberg increased his offer.

Sources close to the deal say that Glasenberg appealed to Blair to intervene just hours before the shareholder vote on Friday. He mediated a three-hour discussion at Claridge's until after midnight. On Friday, Glencore unveiled an improved bid to cement the creation of a natural resource giant.

End.

It's absolutely obscene ,what a profiteer ! Let's hope when he is brought to book all this wealth will be confiscated and poured back into some good cause such as the NHS. HOW DOES HE SLEEP AT NIGHT?

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/04/07/296995/report-implicates-blair-in-iraq-war/

===================================================================
Previously unseen evidence to the Chilcot Inquiry has shed more light on the build-up to the war on Iraq, showing that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair ordered production of intelligence for the US-led invasion of the Arab country.

According to secret testimony by British intelligence to the Iraq war inquiry led by Sir John Chilcot, during a meeting with UK Intelligence officers, including former MI6 chief Sir Richard Dearlove, Blair accepted that Libya was a ?bigger threat? than Iraq in respect of weapons of mass destruction, The Independent on Sunday reported.

The former British premier is said to have "understood the risk ? of focusing on WMD in relation to Iraq" in the session, which was held one day before his meeting with former US president George Bush on April 5, 2002.

However, Intelligence officers told the inquiry that Blair came out a "changed man" after his meeting with Bush and ordered the production of dossiers to "find the intelligence" necessary to justify going to war.

In an interview on BBC2?s Newsnight earlier in February, Blair said despite the death toll among British troops and Iraqi civilians being ?very, very high?, the decision to wage a war against the Arab country was the right one.

The former leader of Britain?s Labour party is globally discredited for his war crimes, as under his premiership between 1997 and 2007 hundreds of thousands were killed and injured in illegal military interventions.

The US and Britain attacked Iraq in 2003 and toppled Saddam Hussein on the pretext of possessing weapons of mass destruction. However, no WMD was ever discovered in Iraq.

More than one million Iraqis were killed as the result of the US-led invasion and subsequent occupation of the country, according to the California-based investigative organization Project Censored.

Dying vet's 'fxxk you' letter to George Bush & Dick Cheney
« Reply #6 on: July 15, 2013, 10:02:40 AM »
The message below came to me from one of my correspondents in the USA.
The words to Bush & Cheney could equally apply to War Criminal Blair & every one of those who supported him.
All but a comparative few of those currently in prison are entitled to say, "Why should I be in here, when those mass murderers are free?"  It is to the shame of the British people that they are.

Dying vet?s ?f### you? letter to George Bush & Dick Cheney needs to be read by every American

03.19.2013
 11:11 am

To: George W. Bush and Dick Cheney
 From: Tomas Young
I write this letter on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War on behalf of my fellow Iraq War veterans. I write this letter on behalf of the 4,488 soldiers and Marines who died in Iraq. I write this letter on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of veterans who have been wounded and on behalf of those whose wounds, physical and psychological, have destroyed their lives. I am one of those gravely wounded. I was paralyzed in an insurgent ambush in 2004 in Sadr City. My life is coming to an end. I am living under hospice care.
I write this letter on behalf of husbands and wives who have lost spouses, on behalf of children who have lost a parent, on behalf of the fathers and mothers who have lost sons and daughters and on behalf of those who care for the many thousands of my fellow veterans who have brain injuries. I write this letter on behalf of those veterans whose trauma and self-revulsion for what they have witnessed, endured and done in Iraq have led to suicide and on behalf of the active-duty soldiers and Marines who commit, on average, a suicide a day. I write this letter on behalf of the some 1 million Iraqi dead and on behalf of the countless Iraqi wounded. I write this letter on behalf of us all?the human detritus your war has left behind, those who will spend their lives in unending pain and grief.
I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done. You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans?my fellow veterans?whose future you stole.
Your positions of authority, your millions of dollars of personal wealth, your public relations consultants, your privilege and your power cannot mask the hollowness of your character. You sent us to fight and die in Iraq after you, Mr. Cheney, dodged the draft in Vietnam, and you, Mr. Bush, went AWOL from your National Guard unit. Your cowardice and selfishness were established decades ago. You were not willing to risk yourselves for our nation but you sent hundreds of thousands of young men and women to be sacrificed in a senseless war with no more thought than it takes to put out the garbage.
I joined the Army two days after the 9/11 attacks. I joined the Army because our country had been attacked. I wanted to strike back at those who had killed some 3,000 of my fellow citizens. I did not join the Army to go to Iraq, a country that had no part in the September 2001 attacks and did not pose a threat to its neighbors, much less to the United States. I did not join the Army to ?liberate? Iraqis or to shut down mythical weapons-of-mass-destruction facilities or to implant what you cynically called ?democracy? in Baghdad and the Middle East. I did not join the Army to rebuild Iraq, which at the time you told us could be paid for by Iraq?s oil revenues. Instead, this war has cost the United States over $3 trillion. I especially did not join the Army to carry out pre-emptive war. Pre-emptive war is illegal under international law. And as a soldier in Iraq I was, I now know, abetting your idiocy and your crimes. The Iraq War is the largest strategic blunder in U.S. history. It obliterated the balance of power in the Middle East. It installed a corrupt and brutal pro-Iranian government in Baghdad, one cemented in power through the use of torture, death squads and terror. And it has left Iran as the dominant force in the region. On every level?moral, strategic, military and economic?Iraq was a failure. And it was you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney, who started this war. It is you who should pay the consequences.
I would not be writing this letter if I had been wounded fighting in Afghanistan against those forces that carried out the attacks of 9/11. Had I been wounded there I would still be miserable because of my physical deterioration and imminent death, but I would at least have the comfort of knowing that my injuries were a consequence of my own decision to defend the country I love. I would not have to lie in my bed, my body filled with painkillers, my life ebbing away, and deal with the fact that hundreds of thousands of human beings, including children, including myself, were sacrificed by you for little more than the greed of oil companies, for your alliance with the oil sheiks in Saudi Arabia, and your insane visions of empire.
I have, like many other disabled veterans, suffered from the inadequate and often inept care provided by the Veterans Administration. I have, like many other disabled veterans, come to realize that our mental and physical wounds are of no interest to you, perhaps of no interest to any politician. We were used. We were betrayed. And we have been abandoned. You, Mr. Bush, make much pretense of being a Christian. But isn?t lying a sin? Isn?t murder a sin? Aren?t theft and selfish ambition sins? I am not a Christian. But I believe in the Christian ideal. I believe that what you do to the least of your brothers you finally do to yourself, to your own soul.
My day of reckoning is upon me. Yours will come. I hope you will be put on trial. But mostly I hope, for your sakes, that you find the moral courage to face what you have done to me and to many, many others who deserved to live. I hope that before your time on earth ends, as mine is now ending, you will find the strength of character to stand before the American public and the world, and in particular the Iraqi people, and beg for forgiveness.
?Tomas Young

Teddy's Answer to Diversity!

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.
? Theodore Roosevelt, speech before the Knights of Columbus, 1915, New York

Teddy's Answer to Bush!

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
? Theodore Roosevelt

Teddy's Answer to Bush & Congress

"We cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure.  Honesty is not so much a credit as an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public.  Unless a man is honest, we have no right to keep him in public life; it matters not how brilliant his capacity."  ? Theodore Roosevelt

My only comment is that in addition to Blair, I would add Cameron and Hague to the list for their act of genocide in Libya and, their continuing support for acts of genocide in Syria.
