Login issues
« on: April 10, 2013, 10:17:35 PM »
Due to the forum being run via cloudflare, if the server goes down, cloudflare can serve a cached version of the forum. The problem with this is it can look like the site is fine until you try to login, then it can throw up errors.

If you have had trouble logging in, please try again. If still problematic send me an email.

Hi Admin,
I'm 'permanently' logged-on. I got straight in, it was just a bit slow.
I'll log-off and see what happens then!

Their is a facility to keep you logged in when you first log in.
1 hour
1 day
1week...etc.

This may be why.

Not sure why it's slow, the server may under heavy load, or it could be the cloud server it is directed through. Big programs like forums can all of a sudden slow down for no reason.  I have all sorts of measures in place to keep the speed up but it may even be down to the route the pages are travelling from the server to you. I get it myself with many websites. I end up switching off my router so I get a new ip address. It's worth a try, just unplug your router from the mains for 30 seconds and then let it re-boot. Often speeds up after.

Apart from that I may have to buy a server and at over ?100 a month for a decent one I just can't afford it for a site that returns no income.

Hopefully it'll sort itself out.

Keep me updated on it if it happens again.

It's important to clear cookies and browser cache often. It slows down your browser, clogs up the PC, and can leave personal info where it may not be secure.

Made a few more tweeks to keep things running a little smoother.

Also renamed the Cookie that everyone's browser uses. I did this in case the other was conflicting with something else.

If you use "Keep Logged In", the renaming will have logged you out, just re-login and mark for how long you want the cookie to last (top left login area).

Hopefully everything will run Ok for a while  ;)
